Imagined Communities

This site is part of Emily McGinn and Ben Jahre's proposal for Buzzademia. The proposed entry to the collection is a set of two complementary classroom assignment for engaging with the concept of Empty Homogenous time from Benedict Anderson's book Imagined Communities.

The assignments encourage students to think critically about the ways they and their peers participate consciously -- or unconsciously -- in the formation of a new digital world culture. Students will use social media to collect images in order to examine what constitutes a “nation” from a local and a global perspective.
